Abstract

1,130,562. Apparatus for washing bedpans. DENT & HELLYER Ltd. and CORNERCROFT Ltd. 31 Jan., 1966 [30 Oct., 1964], No. 44305/64. Heading A4N. A bed-pan washing apparatus comprises a closable chamber (1), means for supporting a bed-pan within the chamber (30), means such as (49) for directing jets of cleansing fluid on to the bed-pan supported in the chamber, means for assembling a vessel with the chamber to enclose the supported bed-pan, and for subsequently dismantling the vessel, and means for admitting a pressurized sterilizing fluid to the vessel when in its assembled state. In a preferred embodiment the bed-pan supporting member is mounted within the chamber for pivotal movement so that the bed-pan moves from the horizontal to the vertical position on closure of the lid of the chamber (14). The apparatus may be operated either manually or automatically.
