Abstract

1,130,154. Feeding coffee beans. ELCEMCO Inc. 28 Sept., 1965 [28 Sept., 1964], No. 29039/68. Divided out of 1,130,152. Heading B8S. [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for feeding objects e.g. coffee beans, to be sorted to a sorting device 18, Fig. 5, comprises a wheel 204 carrying a plurality of scoops 208 which pick up objects 16 from the stationary receptacle 202 by means of gravity alone and deliver them to a discharge station where an air jet from blower 212 propels them into a bifurcated tube 12 having a screen 220 so that dust and objects below a predetermined size pass to waste and desired objects pass to the sorting device 18. The scoops may be formed of cut-away cylinders, Fig. 5 and Fig. 7 (not shown), or curved blades, Fig. 8 (not shown), or sheet metal held between pairs of posts projecting from the face of wheel 204, Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown). In the latter case the blower may be omitted and the objects propelled from the scoops by centrifugal force.
