Abstract

Moistening air.-A humidifier particularly for confined space, such as railway carriages &c. comprises a rotary water-distributor throwing the spray transversely to the air current, the excess water being caught in a surrounding casing. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the distributor, which consists of a number of dished disks k, is mounted on the spindle of an electric fan j, the motor a of which is carried in a fork b so that it can be inclined. The water-catcher consists of a casing g carried bv a spider f fitted on the motor. The disks k are separated by spacers and apertures are so arranged that water supplied through the pipe v can flow through openings to all the disks. The water-catcher has vanes 5 and also a trough l the excess water flowing out at the lowest part with a sump x whence it is returned for re-use as by a small pump z. The sump may be kept supplied with water by a suitable valve arrangement 8. The fan is fitted with an annular guard ring o for deflecting the water thrown off.
