Abstract
1,129,822. Labelling machinery. H. KRONSEDER. 7 Feb., 1966 [5 Feb., 1965], No. 5372/66. Heading B8F. An apparatus for the application of labels to bottles and similar containers comprises (Fig. 1) a carrying surface 2 which receives adhesive as it moves past a glue-applying roller 1; the end of the surface 2 which leads in the direction of motion pivots inwards so that the rearward end of the surface is the first end to engage with the stack of labels 3; as the pivotal axis 4 of the surface 2 continues its rotation about centre 6, the surface is completely rolled over the front of the stack of labels; after a label has been taken up the carrying surface pivots back to its initial position and is brought into the range of rotating gripping means, such as labelling cylinder 5, which removes the adhesive label from the surface and takes it to the article to which it is to be applied. If desired, there may be more than one carrying surface and more than one label receptacle. Preferably there are retracting means provided so that after a label has been removed from the stack, the stack 3 is retracted and is returned to the next carrying surface only when a bottle or like article has been recorded at the entry of the apparatus. If desired the labels may be removed from the stack by suction and not by adhesive.
