Abstract

[Also in Division H2] In an electrical assembly unit provided with the male part of a two-part multi-contact coupling, the assembly is encapsulated in an insulating body which co-operates with the female part of the coupling to relieve the electrical contacts of the function of mechanically supporting the coupling. The invention is described with relation to the mounting of electrical equipment in an industrial truck. As shown, Fig. 1, a printed circuit board 10 bearing electrical components is encapsulated in a distinctively coloured moulding 14 having a rectangular recess 15 in which are located strip contacts 11 formed on one edge of the board 10. When the contacts 11 are engaged in the sockets of a multi-contact connector 13, part of a portion 16 of the connector slides into the recess 15. The connector 13 comprises a base portion 30 which is bolted to a channel-shaped plate 32 having an opening 34 through which connector portion 16 protrudes. Incorrect assembly of the contacts 11 in the connector 13 is prevented by the provision of upstanding pegs 21 on plate 32, and of complementary apertures (not shown), in the moulding 14. Fig. 4 (not shown) depicts the connector 13 comprising spring contacts (12) each provided with a connector tag (20) for external connection. Fig. 5 (not shown) depicts three assembly units mounted side by side on a common base-plate which supports three connectors, the units being held on the base-plate by bolts and a strap. Assembly units of the invention may alternatively comprise components mounted in a box which is subsequently filled with encapsulating material.
