Abstract

1,128,466. Electromagnets. VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT ELEKTROMEKHANIKI. 12 Oct., 1965, No. 43172/65. Heading H1P. An operative electromagnet comprises a core, 1, surrounded by a coil 3 and having pole shoes 4, 5 at right angles thereto, and a Z-shaped armature 2 pivoted symmetrically on a shaft 6 normal to the core, with its central member of box section enclosing the core and coil (Fig. 2, not shown) and its end members overlapping the pole shoes. The magnetic circuit thus has a figure of 8 profile when projected on a plane normal to the rotational axis of the armature. The pole faces may be angled obliquely to the flux axis (Fig. 3, not shown).
