Abstract

1,128,238. Drying sterilized webs. TETRA PAK A.B. 14 April, 1966 [26 April, 1965], No. 16436/66. Heading F4G. Apparatus for the aseptic drying of sterilized webs 1 comprises a convergent passage 8 leading to a nozzle 9 located close to the web surface to direct a high-velocity aseptic gas stream from a fan 5 towards the web surface at a comparatively small angle and in counterflow thereto, and a curved guide member having an edge adjacent the web to receive liquid beads 4 blown off the web by the gas stream and to guide them, propelled by the stream to a receptacle 17. The sterilized gas is recirculated. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), both blowing and sucking are utilized to remove the droplets from the web. The flow of sterilized air produced by the output nozzle of a first tube is utilized as an ejector to create a vacuum in a slot of a second tube to draw the droplets therethrough and combine with the air and moisture flow to the collection receptacle.
