Doors. - A cleaning- door for use on steamgenerator &c. flues comprises a deep frame 1 which has between its front and rear faces 2, 3 an inwardly projecting frame 4 strengthened by ribs 5. The frame 4 car. ries a plate 6 with perforations 7 each covered by an escutcheon or cover-plate 9, which, when the principal door 11 is opened, is moved aside in order to enable a cleaning-tool to be inserted through the corresponding hole 7. The device is particularly designed to give access to the flues of steam-generators heated by the waste heat of Siemens-Martin furnaces; the air entering through the single uncovered opening 7 is not sufficient to affect the draught in, and the working of, the steel furnace, as is the case when an ordinary large soot door is opened.
