Cooking-ranges; air, supplying for combustion.-A plate F is fixed within the fireplace front of a cooking-range to increase the depth of the fire opening and form a space G, through which air is passed to cool the front, and also a space J with outlets K through which heated air is passed for smoke consumption. The air for cooling purposes is admitted by an opening e, with sliding doors, between the fire opening c and ash-pit opening d. The air for smoke consumption passes by the door-controlled opening d to the ash-pit d<1> where it is heated, and thence to the apertures K, and may mingle with the air admitted at the opening e.
