1,127,225. Degassifier. CENTRALNE BIURO KONSTRUKCJI KOTLOWYCH. 4 Oct., 1965 [9 Oct., 1964], No. 42000/65. Heading B1M. In a water degassifier which is a water/ steam contacting column having shelves at A, B and A<SP>1</SP> on which liquid may stand apertured for upward passage of steam and perforated for downward passage of the liquid, the apertures being on opposite sides of overflow walls 2 to the apertures, the shelves are divided by barriers in such a way that there is a set of perforations each side of the barrier on each shelf and each net is disposed to pass liquid to the shelf below on one side only of the barrier on that shelf so that in use of the column at low liquid flow rates the liquid can pass from shelf to shelf occupying only part of each shelf while in use at higher rates the liquid can overflow the barriers and occupy more of each shelf.
