[Also in Division C3] Novel tetrafluoroethylene adducts, which are not telomers and have the formula [C 2 F 4 ] n Q wherein n is an integer from 8 to 25 and Q represents one molecule of chloroform or carbon tetrachloride are obtained by reacting tetrafluoroethylene with haloalkanes Q in the presence of an ionic catalyst, e.g. tetraethylammonium fluoride. Adducts of the above formula wherein n is less than 8 are obtained as by-products.
