Abstract

1,051,647. Perfluoropyruvyl fluoride and its dimer. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. Oct. 14, 1964, No. 41980/64. Heading C2C. The invention comprises CF 3 COCOF and its dimer, of structure and their production by reacting hexafluoropropylene oxide with a carbonyl compound or a sulphoxide at 100-300‹ C. The dimer is also produced by contacting CF 3 COCOF with fluoride ions. The dimer reacts with SF 4 to give Reacting CF 3 COCOF with ammonia gives perfluoropyruvyl amide. Perfluoropyruvyl fluoride and its dimer are useful as soil fumigants and insecticides.
