Abstract

1,126,991. Polymerizing vinyl monomers in ceramic materials. BRITISH CERAMIC RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 21 April, 1967 [25 Jan., 1966], No. 3254/66. Heading C3P. A ceramic material, e.g. glazed tile, is impregnated with a vinyl monomer which is then polymerized in situ, e.g. by means of heat and/or a catalyst, e.g. benzoyl peroxide. The monomer may be styrene, vinyl toluene, divinyl benzene, or methyl methacrylate and may contain a minor quantity of an unsaturated polyester.
