Abstract

1,126,864. Reel containers. COMDATA CORP. 22 June, 1967, No. 28832/67. Heading B8P. Reel containers of the type comprising two parts 10, 12 which fit together around their peripheries, each part having a central inwardly protruding hub 20 and 25 for entering the hub opening 15 of the reel 14, are provided with ring members 40, (e.g. of nylon), fitted over the hubs; each ring member comprises a cylindrical collar 42 and a flange 44 which, when unconstrained, Fig. 3, makes an acute angle with the collar 42 but, when flattened by the reel 14, see Fig. 4, causes the part of the collar 42 remote from the flange to be urged radially outwardly to grip the reel while the other end grips the hub. To permit this outward urging, the collar 42 as described is formed with longitudinal slots (45), Fig. 2 (not shown). Circumferential sealing ribs 48 protrude from the flange. Locking means 34, 35 with an 0-ring 38, and stated to be conventional, are described.
