Abstract

1,126,545. Magazine for belted ammunition; packing ammunition. RHEINMETALL G.m.b.H. 21 Nov., 1966 [22 Oct., 1966], No. 51944/66. Headings F3A and F3C. A box magazine for ammunition belts comprises a substantially rectangular case 1, the cartridges of the belt being arranged with their longitudinal axes parallel to the narrow sides 1a, 1b of the case 1. The top edge of one 1a of the narrow sides is lower than the top edges of the other sides to provide a belt outlet opening 8. The magazine further comprises a sliding lid 2 having one end 2a bent downwardly, the other end 2c of the lid being optionally introducable from either narrow side of the case 1. In one of its positions the bent end 2a of the lid 2 rests tightly against the lower top edge of the narrow side 1a to close the belt outlet opening. The case 1 and lid 2 are provided with indentations 11, 10 for strengthening purposes. The upper ends of the major sides of the case 1 are provided with stamped patterns to facilitate the handling of the magazine. Guide grooves 14 for the lid pass through the stamped patterns. A spring 17 is stamped out of the lid to co-operate with the larger narrow side 1b to lock the lid in a closed position. The magazine is further provided with a pair of claws 3, 4 for attaching the magazine to the cartridge feed of a machine gun (Fig. 3, not shown). A belt tensioning spring tongue 9 is attached to the inner surface of the case 1.
