Abstract

1,126,128. Switch contacts. HEPPENSTALL CO. 17 Aug., 1966 [23 Aug., 1965], No. 36919/66. Heading H1N. A disc contact 108 is mounted on a plunger 112 for operation by a cam (not described) to engage three fixed contacts 106 simultaneously. The disc 108 has a tapered or curved (Figs. 4 and 8, not shown) surface and the plunger 112 is a loose fit in hole 113 so that a self-aligning and cleaning action is provided as the contacts engage. The contacts 106 are carried on insulation 104 which may be rigidly secured to base 102 by a bracket 100, or may be resiliently slidable on bolts (128, Figs. 5 to 8, not shown), to allow for overtravel of plunger 112. The cam-follower tip 114 may be of nylon, for example, or may comprise a ball (118, Figs. 4 and 8, not shown), or may be replaced by a spring-urged smaller plunger sliding inside the main plunger to permit overtravel (Fig. 9, not shown). The underside of disc 108 may be shaped to co-operate with additional fixed contacts on support 102 and provide a change-over action (Fig. 8, not shown).
