Abstract

1,125,947. Moulded plastics wheels. GEO. H. HUGHES Ltd. 11 Nov., 1965 [13 Nov., 1964], No. 46429/64. Heading B7C. A wheelbarrow, tricycle or like wheel comprises axially successive halves 5, 6 of moulded plastics each having a hub part in socketing engagement with the other hub part, and radial ribs 10. The outer faces 7 are non- apertured. The halves may be friction-welded together at 11, be riveted as at 18, or be snapfastened together by their hub parts. As shown each half has circumferential and axial ribs 23, 24 respectively to minimize relative movement between the wheel and tyre 22, but in a modification the extensions 20, 21 are omitted and a tyre is seated directly on the flange 12. The plastics may be polypropylene or high density polyethylene.
