Abstract

1,125,212. Safety belt. AB INDUSTRIFJ€DRAR. 7 Dec., 1966 [13 Dec., 1965], No. 54728/66. Heading A3V. A safety belt for cars, aircraft and seacraft consists of a chest strap and/or lap strap, each strap being of such a composition that up to a load of from 400 to 750 Kg. it is subjected to insignificant elastic elongation while for a load above said value it is subjected to an energy absorbing continuous deformative elongation that is uniform throughout the length of the strap. The elongation curves of three examples of such belts are shown by curves B, C and D in the graph. The strap can be made by weaving a yam which consists of a mixture of fibres having different elongation properties, by weaving several yarns, the different yarns of the strap having different elongation properties or by laminating fabrics or other material layers having different elongation properties.
