Abstract
A fuel comprises a major proportion of a crude oil or residua containing fuel having a kinematic viscosity in excess of 15 cs. at 100 DEG F. and a minor proportion of a reaction product of (A) a dicarboxylic acid, anhydride, ester or half-ester thereof, and (B) a compound having 2 or 3 functional groups said groups being amino or hydroxyl; provided that there is a C18-C50 straight-chain hydrocarbyl group attached either to the carbon chain linking the two carboxyl groups in (A) or to the carbon chain linking the functional groups in (B) and provided that when the carbon chain linking the carboxyl groups in (A) is C2 or C3 then the amino groups in (B) are secondary amino groups. General formulae for each type of product are given. Acids specified are substituted adipic, azelaic, sebacic and succinic acids. Many examples of (B), which may be a glycol, hydroxy secondary amine or di-secondary amine, are given.
