Abstract
1,123,915. Suction fasteners. POLYMATHIC ENG. CO. Ltd. 18 April, 1967 [3 June, 1966], No. 24750/66. Heading E2A. Means for holding an article comprises a disc 10 of resilient cellular material which is formed with an aperture extending from one face of the disc towards the other face, said aperture being shaped to receive the article to be held and the disc being of such thickness that when the article to be held is inserted in the aperture the wall bounding the aperture, which is deformed during such insertion, operates to grip the article resiliently, the disc being so constructed that when the article is inserted in the aperture the disc and article together form a suction cap whereby the disc and article are, when moved into engagement with a planar supporting surface, held suctionally in such engagement. As described the aperture in the disc is of tapered form and the disc is made of synthetic rubber or elastomeric plastics material. The aperture either extends completely through the disc or the disc has a membrane which closes the end of the aperture which opens onto the lower face of the disc: this arrangement prevents chattering of a bottle on, for example, a polished wooden surface.
