Abstract

1,123,473. Liquefied gas converters. WESTLAND AIRCRAFT Ltd. 17 May, 1967 [21 March, 1966], No. 12379/66. Heading F4P. The lower end of a heat insulated liquefied gas, e.g. oxygen, container 1 forming part of a converter system is provided with a valved filler pipe 2 with which is combined a liquid withdrawal pipe 3 into which is inserted an electrically or ambient air heated vaporizer 10 and a pressure closing valve 11 and having its gas delivery end extended downwardly into the lower end of the container to a point above the end of the liquid fill line 2 whereby pressure is built up in the gas space of the container and the temperature of the liquid is maintained constant throughout its depth; a gas delivery line 4 having a vent branch 6 being connected to the upper end of the container. To fill the container a filling hose connection 9 is inserted into a combined filler and vent valve 8 thereby opening a non-return valve (not shown) in pipe 2 to allow liquid flow as shown by solid single arrows whilst the gas space is vented through pipes 4, 6 and valve 8, as shown by hollow double arrows. A branch 5 of delivery pipe 4 includes a relief valve 7 and the pipes 2, 4, 5 include self-sealing plug-and-socket connection 12C, 12B, 12A as described in Specification 1,107,505.
