A wheeled dumper vehicle comprises front and rear frame sections A, B pivotable relative to one another about a longitudinal axis, an engine 18 mounted on the rear section B, a drive from the engine 18 to at least two wheels, and steering mechanism for steering wheels on the rear section B, the front section A carrying or being adapted to carry a skip 12. A pivot shaft 11 projecting from the rear section B is rotatably mounted in the front section A. An hydraulic ram 13 tips the skip 12, or a gravity tipping skip may be used. A hydrostatic pump 19 driven by the engine 18 supplies individual hydraulic motors driving the front and/or rear wheels. Each motor forms the hub of the associated wheel and rotates on a stub shaft 24. Means may be provided to prevent wheelspin and, if all the wheels are driven, for driving only the front wheels when required. A pair of pedals 33 are connected through a cord 34 and pulley 35 to the pump swashplate for controlling speed and direction. Hydrostatic braking provided by the motors 23 is supplemented by handapplied disc brakes 16 acting on the front wheels. The rear wheels are mounted in stirrups 25 steerable by a steering column 32 through Ackerman linkage. The wheels may alternatively be driven through mechanical transmission means.
