The diaper of the parent Specification is modified in that the width of the reinforcing strips (11) Fig. 1 (not shown) is increased so that the diaper end portions formed when the strips are severed centrally each constitute a sixth of the total length of the diaper and the glue spot (24) and embossing 25 are only applied to the inwardly folded portion of the leg-engaging pleats leaving the outer portions free.
