Abstract

1,122,413. Transducers. AKUSTISCHE U. KINO-GERATE G.m.b.H. 4 Oct., 1965 [16 Oct., 1964], No. 42044/65. Heading H4J. A unidirectional transducer comprises a phase-shifting system which consists of a resistance and a compliance and has a phaseshifting effect in a low frequency range and a phase-shifting system which consists of a mass and a compliance and has a phase-shifting effect in a higher frequency range. A condenser microphone (Fig. 4) comprises a diaphragm 1 of gold-coated polyester sheet. An air chamber C 1 and acoustic resistance R provide the low frequency phase shift effect. The second phase-shifting system is formed by the compliance of an air cushion C 1 between the diaphragm 1 and an electrode 7 and by a mass L formed by an air column in one or more tubes. The tube or tubes may be adjustable. The chamber C 1 is adjustable by means of an annular disc 4. A moving coil microphone (Fig. 5) comprises a diaphragm 1 secured to the head of a magnet system 8. One phase-shifting system is formed by a frictional resistance R and an air chamber C 1 while the other is formed by a mass L of air in one or more tubes and by a compliance C 2 formed by the air chamber between the diaphragm 1 and magnet system. The air gap is sealed from the air chamber C 1 by a gasket. Alternatively the mass L is formed by the mass of the air column in the air gap.
