Abstract
Polyacrylonitrile, or an acrylonitrile copolymer, and a polycarbonate with an average molecular weight of 10,000 to 40,000 are dissolved in a weight ratio of 99.9:0.1 to 80:20 in an organic solvent and the resultant solution is spun to form fibres or filaments. Sulphonated polycarbonates may be employed. In the examples, polyacrylonitrile and a polycarbonate or sulphonated polycarbonate are dissolved in dimethyl formamide. The solution is wet spun to produce filaments which are dyed.
