Abstract
1,121,114. Knitting-machines. F. LONATI. 17 Nov., 1965 [18 Nov., 1964], No. 48862/65. Heading D1C. Yarn severing mechanism is provided on a circular machine and comprises a vertical and a horizontal cutting mechanism each of which is positioned above the welt dial and within the confines of the needle circle. The vertical mechanism comprises movable 15 and fixed 14 blades the latter of which is secured to a slide 3a Fig. 3, mounted on an L shaped support 13. The slide 3a is controlled from a cam drum to be moved into an operative position at desired periods. A corrugated disc 11 driven from the welt dial drive shaft actuates a lever 19 which in turn oscillates a lever 17 causing the movable blade 15 to be continuously reciprocated so that when the slide 3a is lowered the blades engage a yarn and sever it. Also mounted on the drive shaft is a second corrugated disc which in like manner to the first actuates a lever oscillating a horizontally disposed cutting blade 36, Fig. 8, not shown, such that it cooperates with a fixed blade 35 to sever a yarn. A suction nozzle 5 removes waste ends.
