Abstract

A composition for application from a pressurized dispensing container for the prevention and treatment of wound infection comprises finely divided fiamycetin sulphate, polymyxin B sulphate and zinc bacitracin together with one or more liquefied gas propellants and an anionic surface active agent e.g. an alkali metal dialkyl sulphosuccinate or an alkali metal salt of alkyl benzene sulphonic acids. The liquefied gas propellants may comprise a mixture of 60 parts by weight of dichlorotetrafluoroethane and 40 parts by weight of dichlorodifluoromethane.ALSO:A composition for application from a pressurised dispensing container for the prevention and treatment of wound infection comprises finely divided framycetin sulphate, polymyxin B sulphate and zinc bacitracin together with one or more liquified gas propellants and an anionic surface active agent. At least 90% by weight of the particles of the active ingredients may have a particle size of less than 40 microns. The liquefied gas propellants may comprise a mixture of 60 parts by weight of dichlorotetrafluoroethane and 40 parts by weight of dichlorodifluoromethane. The anionic surface active agent which may be present in an amount of 0.001% to 0.01% by weight of the composition is preferably an alkali metal dialkyl sulphosuccinate e.g. na dioctyl- or dibutyl-sulphosuccinate or an alkali metal salt of alkyl benzene sulphonic acids e.g. sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate.
