A unit for building up frames comprises a number of pyramidal units each consisting of a rectangular frame 7 connected by struts 9 to a boss 8, the bosses being connected together by a rectangular frame 10 connected by struts to a single junction member. The units are connected together with the frames 7 in an upper compression grid and the junction members connected together by tie rods forming the lower tension grid.
