Abstract

1,120,655. Handsets. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 17, March, 1967 No. 12676/67. Heading H4J. [Also in Division E2] In a handset having a receiver 5 and including a microphone 4 fed by an acoustic horn 2 extending from a mouthpiece (not shown), the microphone 4 and receiver 5 are both mounted behind the earpiece 3 of the handset and a common retaining spring 13 retains the microphone 4 and receiver 5 in their working position. An anchor plate 7 restrains the horn 2 and spring 13 from movement, is slidably inserted in grooves (6), Fig. 2 (not shown), in the body 1 of the handset and is preferably retained therein by backwardly pointed barbs 8. Alternatively, the plate 7 is retained in the grooves (6) by adhesive. The plate 7 has a downturned extension 9 carrying ears 12 which engage, and restrict movement of, the spring 13. The extension 9 has a tapped hole to engage a bolt 18 serving, through the plate 7, to secure the earpiece to the handset body 1.
