Abstract

1,120,522. Gas filter. K. BLACKMAN Ltd. and P. W. SMITH. 15 Nov., 1966 [8 Nov., 1965], No. 47187/65. Heading BIT. A gas filter comprises a casing 101 defining a filtration region 102 which is bordered on two opposite sides by U-shaped channel members 103, which face each other, a filter web 104 spanning the filtration region with its edges disposed in the channel members, the filter web having corded or otherwise beaded longitudinal edge members 111 also disposed in the channel members, limb 107 of each channel member forming a backing for the filter web at the said edge, one or more guide shoes 109 extending towards limbs 107 but short thereof from the other limb of each channel member which provide a guiding surface for the corded or beaded edge members 111 and retain the web against lateral withdrawal from the channel members, and connection members 113. In the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) guide shoes 109 are replaced by a continuous transverse wall (9).
