[Also in Division H1] A submersible switch for controlling a pump in dependence on liquid level comprises a pair of fixed contacts 12, 14 mounted in a perforated tubular steel housing 11. The liquid e.g. water enters the housing through holes 18 to bridge contacts 12, 14. Essentially the upper contact has a sharp depending rim to ensure a quick break. Two switches may be provided one turning the pump off on fall in liquid level and the other turning it on, on rise in level. Audible and visible alarms may be provided.
