Abstract
Impurities in the form of particles or oily materials dispersed in a liquid are separated by adding to the liquid a flocculation or precipitation agent to coagulate the impurities and electrolysing the liquid to form gas bubbles in sufficient amount to accomplish flotation of the impurities, the electrodes used for electrolysing being horizontal and disposed one above the other, the upper electrode being perforated to allow passage of gas bubbles from the lower electrode.
