Abstract

1,120,289. Waste disposer cover. IN-SINK-ERATOR MFG. CO. 19 Oct., 1966 [22 July, 1966], No. 46831/66. Heading A4N. [Also in Division B2] A flexible inlet cover 9, Fig. 5, for the inlet of a waste disposal unit comprises an outer ring 15 and an elastomeric web 10 extending inwardly therefrom. The web has folds on which the web is gathered into pleats and a central opening 25 is defined by the inner web edges when the web is unstressed. When the web is stressed, e.g. when pushing waste through the inlet, the opening expands. The pleats are formed by four ribs 18, Fig. 1, and four channels 20. The resilient mounting ring cushions vibration between a comminuting chamber 32 and a sink 33, and has an annular groove 34, Fig. 2, to receive a flange 36 on an inlet throat 37 of the chamber 32. A drain cover 30 is seated in an annular groove 38 in the ring 15. The communiting chamber 32 may have a dish washer outlet 48.
