Abstract

1,119,846. A.C. generators. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 23 July, 1965, No. 31479/65. Heading H2A. An A.C. electrical, e.g. synchronous generator 1 has its rotor 2 fed with D.C. excitation current through controlled semi-conductor rectifiers 13 from an exciter machine rotor and mounted on or coupled to the main machine rotor 2, the excitor machine stator 5 is fed with an A.C. supply from the mains machine output 7 through a voltage transformer 6 in series with an air gap transformer 12 to produce for varying loads a substantially constant flux in the exciter machine 4, and a rotating field produced by the exciter machine stator 5 rotates in the opposite direction 8 from that 11 of the mechanical rotation of its rotor 9. The rectifier 13 is in a rotating circuit 10 which includes an oppositely poled rectifier 14 for effecting rapid de-excitation.
