Abstract
Hydrazine hydrate is produced by fractionating an aqueous ketazine and/or hydrazone soln. (derived from hydrazine and an aliphatic ketone having 4-8 carbon atoms) under an excess pressure of 1-50 atms., and at a sump temp. of 100-250 DEG C., removing the ketone from the top of the column and the hydrazine hydrate as an aqueous soln. from the sump. The aliphatic ketone may be methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isopropyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, methyl n-butyl ketone, 4-methyl pentanone-2 or ethyl amyl ketone. The aqketazine and/or hydrazone may be decomposed in the presence of 5-25% aliphatic ketone and 2-10% hydrazine hydrate.ALSO:An aliphatic ketone of 4-8 C atoms is produced by fractionating an aqueous ketazine and/or hydrazone soln.
