Abstract

In a method of preparing cycloalkanoneoxime hydrochlorides by a photochemical nitrosation of cycloalkanes having 4 or more carbon atoms, with nitrosyl chloride in the presence of hydrogen chloride while irradiating with light of the visible region of the spectrum, the irradiation is carried out by the light produced by a mercury-thallium lamp in which the thallium iodide vapour pressure amounts to 10 to 200 mm. mercury and the mercury vapour pressure amounts to 1000 to 20,000 mm. of mercury. The examples show the preparation of cyclohexanoneoxime and methylcyclohexanoneoxime. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,066,114.
