Abstract
A light-weight rigid multi-layer constructional board, particularly for ceilings and walls, consists of a honeycomb structure of urea-impregnated sodium paper forming a central layer and provided on its open sides with covering layers consisting of a liquid-to-plastic building material mixture of composition:- 3 to 50 parts by wt. pulverous precondensate of urea-formaldehyde resin, 50 to 97 parts by wt. of doubly-calcined calciumsulphate and 10 to 80 parts by wt. of water. The open sides of the honeycomb structure on the edges of the cells may have peripherally extending flattened beads formed by the immersion of the surfaces of the honeycomb structure in the building material mixture and then the removal therefrom and deposition of the honeycomb structure on a flat base until the mixture has set. The flat base may be covered with a fibre-glass fleece which adheres to the honeycomb structure. Alternatively the light weight rigid multilayer constructional board may consist of a honeycomb structure of sodium paper impregnated with cresol resin forming a central layer and provided on its open sides with covering layers consisting of a liquid-to-plastic building material mixture made up from 20 to 80 parts by weight of a dihydroxy-methyl-acetone produced by synthesis from acetone and formaldehyde, and mixed with 5 to 60 parts by weight of brown coal flue dust, 5 to 60 parts by weight of cement, and 0.3 to 20 parts by weight of lime lye or soda lye.
