Abstract
1,117,876. Conveyer systems; tensioning cables. BECORIT GRUBENAUSBAU G.m.b.H. 10 May, 1966 [11 May, 1965], No. 20556/66. Heading B7L. Conveyer apparatus comprises an endless traction cable 8 having at least one run extending along a traokway (not shown) for moving vehicles (not shown) therealong, the cable being driven from a motor driven winder at one end of the trackway and passing round a return pulley (not shown) at the end of the trackway remote from the driving winch. The invention is characterized in that the driving winch is included in a unit 3 arranged on a base 1 for positional adjustment relative to the base and to the trackway in a direction such as to vary the tension in the cable 8, and its position is adjustable by means of a fluid pressure operated piston and cylinder unit 9, 10 operatively connected between the base 1 and the unit 3. The base 1 comprises a pair of spaced U-shaped rails 2, with mouths opposed, on which rails run flanged wheels 4 of the unit 3. The latter has guide rollers 5 engaging within the channels of the U-shaped rails 2 to prevent lifting of the unit 3. The unit 9, 10 is connected to an upstanding bracket 11 of the base 1 and to the unit 3, the latter having entry and exit rollers 6, 7 for the cable 8.
