Abstract

1,117,827. Vehicle suspensions. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. 7 Dec., 1966 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 54878/66. Heading B7D. In a wheeled vehicle a wheel mounting is in the form of a cranked stub axle 2 with a wheel carrying first shank 3 and a second shank 4 which is journalled in a support 1 of the vehicle for pivotal movement to move the first shank 3 fore and aft of the vehicle, there being abutment means 16 to limit such pivotal movement. As shown there are two resilient abutments mounted on the support 1, and an abutment pin 15 carried by the extended web 14 of the stub axle 2. The support 1 may be an axle or trailing arm and supports the shank 4 in needle. roller or other rolling contact bearings 6. Oscillations of the stub axle 2 are damped by friction discs 10 mounted between the shank 4 and a disc 7 mounted on the support 1.
