Abstract

1,117,488. Pipe couplings; pipe closures; valves; fluid-pressure brakes. MILWAUKEE VALVE CO. Inc. 2 Oct., 1965, No. 41896/65. Headings F2F, F2G, F2P and F2V. A duct 10, which is adapted to be connected at one end 43 to a fuel tank of a tanker vehicle (not shown), houses a spring-loaded check valve 12 at its other end, which valve is mechanicallylinked through a bell-crank lever 50 and a transverse pin 54 to a flow control valve 16 which is detachably mounted on said duct and arranged in the vehicle's brake line. On coupling a refuelling nozzle (not shown) to a bayonet adapter 26 secured to the duct, the nozzle unseats the check valve disc 20 from its seat 34 thereby permitting fuel flow through the duct to the tank. The valve stem 48, which is guided in a duct support 32, axially abuts a pin 46 against one arm 51 of the bell crank lever. The lever pivots at 52 and depresses pin 54 which, in turn, actuates plunger 56 to open valve 16 in the vehicle air brake line thus immobilizing the vehicle. A cap, Fig. 3 (not shown), adapted to be connected to the bayonet adapter, may be provided for protection of the check valve after the nozzle is removed.
