Abstract
1,116,497. Control of D.C. motors. SEVCON ENGINEERING Ltd. 9 Jan., 1967 [11 Jan., 1966], No. 1170/66. Heading H2J. A series traction motor is supplied from source M which may be an external D.C. supply, a diesel-driven generator, or a battery. The field winding F is additionally excited from source P, which is a mark-space ratio device employing silicon controlled rectifiers, to limit the maximum speed at which the motor drives the vehicle. If the motor is over-driven, regenerative current passes through diode D2 to the source M, the field current being maintained by the pulse source. Diode D1 prevents current from the source P from passing through the armature, and diode D3 prevents feed-back from the source M to the source P.
