Abstract

1,115,400. Shotgun cartridges. KAWAGUCHIYA HAYASHI JUHO KAYAKU TEN KABUSHIKI KAISHA. 30 Sept., 1966 [14 Oct., 1965; 26 April, 1966], No. 43759/66. Heading F3A. A shot cartridge comprises a case 1 containing a powder charge 3, an internal sleeve 4, a cushion guide 5 engaged within the sleeve 4 so as to be prevented from being displaced from within the sleeve and having a base in contact with the powder charge, and shot 6 supported above the cushion guide within the sleeve, the cushion guide being elastically flexible in the direction of the length of the cartridge and acting to cushion the impact on firing and thus reduce the backward force on a gun and to " guide " the shot from the cartridge case and gun barrel. The sleeve 4 may be elastically flexible, and both the sleeve and cushion guide may be made from synthetic resin. The cushion guide may be provided with laterally-extending through holes 10 and thin, integral strengthening ribs 19 and may be secured in the sleeve 4 by means of an extension 21 of the sleeve extending into a neck located between a rim base 9 and a wedge-shaped projection 17 of the cushion guide. A small gap 24 is left between the extension and rim base. The shot-containing part of the sleeve 4 may be provided with a number of longitudinal slots.
