Abstract

1,115,181. Doors. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 4 Dec., 1964 [17 Dec., 1963]. No. 49777/63. Heading EIJ. A door is formed as a one piece hollow extrusion of transparent or translucent thermoplastic polymeric materials such as polymers of vinyl chloride or vinylidene chloride, polyolefines such as polypropylene, acrylonitrile butadiene, styrene resins, having two sides 2, 3 connected by integrally moulded longitudinal edge portions 5 and spaced longitudinal supporting webs 4. One of the edge portions 5 may have a dove-tail longitudinal recess in which a hinge or locking device may be located. The door may be cut off as required from a longer extrusion and the ends filled with solid pieces of wood or plastic moulding end pieces inserted at least partially into the ends of the door shield by protuberances having a tight fit in the hollow extrusion, or by adhesive. The hollow interior of the door may be filled with foamed polyurethane, foamed in situ. The surface may be covered with an embossed plastic sheet.
