Abstract

A damp-proof course comprises a strip of an extruded foamed polyolefin resin having a substantially closed cell structure, a density of at least 10 lb./cu. ft., a thickness of 0.05 to 0.5 inch and a width appropriate to the width of the wall. The polyolefin is preferably polyethylene, which may be expanded using chemical or volatile blowing agents, and which may contain fillers, e.g. silica, alumina or zinc stearate, and/or antioxidants, e.g. 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methyl phenol and substance such as carbon black giving protection against ultra-violet light.
