Abstract

Novel cyclohexyldiphenyliodonium salts, of the formula <FORM:1114950/C2/1> where R1 is H, F, Cl or Br; R2 is F, Cl, Br or CF3; and A- represents a pharmaceutically acceptable anion, are obtained by reacting a compound of formula <FORM:1114950/C2/2> where Z is IO or I(OCOCH3)2 with cyclohexylbenzene in the presence of an acid. The salt so formed may be converted to other salts by metathesis. The iodosobenzene compounds (Formula II where Z is IO) are made by reacting the corresponding iodobenzene compounds with Cl2 then reacting the iodobenzene dichloride with aqueous NaOH. The iodosobenzene diacetate compounds (Formula II where Z is I(OCOCH3)2) are made by reaction of the corresponding iodobenzene compounds with peracetic acid.
