A wooden post 2 is connected to a concrete base 1 by metal connectors 3 which are embedded or recessed in the parts 1, 2. A damp course 5, end plates 4 and upper-end socket 6 may be provided. The metal connectors 3 may comprise angles, rods, or triangular bars, and may be secured by adhesive, screws and castin studs. Alternatively metal connector rods may be completely embedded in the parts 1, 2.
