Abstract

1,114,511. Non-linear, quadratic circuits. DYNAMCO INSTRUMENTS Ltd. 21 July, 1966 [30 July, 1965], No. 32724/65. Heading G4G. A feedback amplifier, for generating a non- linear transfer function, e.g. a relation between input and output voltage of the form is modified so that the use of a high-gain amplifier is not essential. The amplifier comprises a linear amplifier A having a further stage of amplification embodying an N.P.N. transistor TR1, the collector circuit of which includes two resistors R 2 , R 3 , and a diode D1, the latter producing an approximate relation between the amplifier gain M without feedback and the output voltage Vout of the form where 0 = constant. The feedback circuit B includes a heater filament h1 and a thermocouple T1 which produces a feedback voltage VFB = KV<SP>2</SP>out. Now the effective voltage across the amplifier = Vin - VFB and also equal to Vout/M. The circuit is applicable to the generation of any nonlinear function.
