Abstract
1,114,194. Washing bottles &c. BEECHAM GROUP Ltd. 10 Jan., 1967 [13 Jan., 1966], No. 1687/66. Heading B8T. A bottle &c. cleaning machine has a nozzle 15 which reciprocates on guides 16, 16A into an inverted bottle B. As the nozzle 15 moves into the bottle B it trips a valve 21 which releases compressed air &c. into the nozzle and as it leaves the bottle, the valve is closed. The neck of the bottle B is engaged in a holder cup 1 and a rubber mouthpiece 3 connected to a source of suction grips the side of the bottle. The mouthpiece is mounted on an arm 6 which pivots, removing the bottle B from the cup 1 and placing it in an upright position on a conveyer 14. The suction is then released. As shown, the machine is driven by cams 12, 17 &c. on a cam-shaft 5 which act on levers 13, 18 &c. controlling the nozzle 15, the pivoted suction mouthpiece 3 &c. Several nozzles 15 are arranged in groups supported on a crosshead (20), Fig. 2 (not shown), and the mouthpieces 3 are arranged in groups on the arm 6. The machine may be driven by electric, hydraulic or pneumatic means.
