Abstract
892,268. Moulding pulp articles. DIAMOND NATIONAL CORPORATION. Nov. 21, 1960, No. 40004/60. Class 87(2). A machine for moulding pulp articles having a screen-finished face side and a relatively rough back side, comprises a tank 11 containing an aqueous slurry of pulp, a suction moulding drum 10, and means 16, 17 for driving the drum with a step-by-step motion, so that a forming die upon which moulded pulp has been formed will move to a delivery station 25 where an oscillating head 21 removes the article from the drum, and a rotating turntable 26 transfers it to a conveyer 27. The head 21 and turntable 26 hold the article by suction and are operated in timed relation with the drum 10. The screen moulds are cleaned by sprays 23 and then pass into the pulp slurry where an article is formed by suction on the mould. Excess material is removed by a spray 24 and the articles pass to a steam chamber 19 and a pressure head station 20 operated in timed relation with the drum 10.
