Abstract

1,113,896. Catheters. WILLIAM WARNE & CO. Ltd. 6 Feb., 1967 [11 Feb., 1966], No. 6272/66. Heading A5R. An inflatable cuff balloon 4 of resilient material for a catheter or other surgical tube 1 comprises a separately formed component having opposed ends, the component being adapted to be slid to a required position on the catheter or tube, the open ends of the cuff or balloon being reinforced or thickened compared with the remainder of the component. As shown, the component 4 having open beaded ends 5 with a normal internal diameter less than the outside diameter of the catheter 1, is fitted over an inflation aperture 3 with the ends 5 sealing themselves against the catheter. Abutments may be provided on the catheter to locate one or both ends of the cuff.
